The Great British Golf Championship is of course the ‘British Open’ and it is one of the oldest of the 4 major championships globally. It is also the only Golf Major that is held outside of the USA. The Open is held on an English or Scottish course on the third Friday of July each year.
The Open is held at ‘The Old Course’ at St Andrews around every 5 years, so book in advance if you’d like to visit during the Championship as the whole town fills up pretty quickly. You can also visit and play on the course and compare your scores to that of the previous championship held there. Practice makes perfect!
The Ryder Cup is atrophy which is competed for by teams from Europe and the USA, and the venue alternates between the United State and Europe. In 2010 the Ryder Cup is being held in the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales so book early if you want to see the pros in action!
