Links Golf Courses are the oldest type of golf course, and are located in and around coastal areas. They usually have very little to no trees or water hazards, and are usually located on open land, and therefore open to the elements too. Get wrapped up for those chilly days!
Links Golf favours the player with low and accurate shots due to the firmness of the green. As well as the blustery winds, the more effective approach to the Links course is to use a low trajectory and roll the ball onto the green.
As the Links Golf Course often contains no water hazards, the holes have various lengths and consistency of rough which increase the difficulty levels of the course. Players would be wise to take extra caution to avoid the sand bunkers too, as due to the naturally strong winds, these must be kept deep in order to prevent the sand from being blown along the course.
Remember to wrap up well for this course and warm up after your game with a wee dram in the club house!
